Alongside the standard smartphone and smartwatch annual releases from big tech companies, it’s always refreshing to see unique and new tech announced. And 2024 did not disappoint. We have been blessed with many innovative tech releases this year, from the failure of the Apple Vision Pro to the surprising news of a triple-folding phone. 2024 has been very successful.
And we are here to review all the top tech we have seen hit the stores. So let’s take a trip down memory lane and look at the best tech releases of 2024.

When did the iPad Air 2024 come out?
It has been a couple of years since Apple released a new iPad and 2024 was finally the year. In May 2024, we saw the Apple iPad Air 6th Gen release, operating on iPadOS 17, with a screen size of 11” and a storage capacity of 128 GB. This model uses the Apple M2 chipset, whereas previous models have adopted the Apple M1 chip. This improvement has seen the 2024 iPad work 50% faster than previous models making it the perfect productivity companion great for working on the go for long periods.
Due to there being such a long waiting time between the two models, fans were very eager to get their hands on this model, and its features and specs did not disappoint!
Why is the Meta Quest 3S cheaper?
Every year we also look forward to some VR headsets hitting our stores. With artificial intelligence and virtual reality rapidly growing in popularity, a budget gaming headset was the ultimate tool we were looking for this year. And Meta didn’t disappoint. The Meta Quest 3S was released in October 2024 and is a budget version of their previous headset which was released in 2023 called the Meta Quest 3. It’s a lighter build with a lack of external depth sensor which is the reason the headset is so much cheaper. The external depth sensor is what makes the device's head tracking a lot more detailed and accurate, without it there is simply less accuracy which overall isn’t a huge loss.
What are the benefits of Samsung S24 Ultra?
At the beginning of the year we also waited for the iconic release of Samsung's next Galaxy phone. This year, we saw the Galaxy S24 Ultra hit our stores! When it comes to specs and features, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is very impressive. It has a large screen size of 6.8”, impeccable battery life and a gorgeous selection of 4 cameras. (200MP, 12MP, 10MP, 50MP.) As well as this, Samsung always excel with their AI features, the model 2024 updates brought new features like Circle To Search, Browsing Assist and Generative Photo Editing to help users simplify their mobile experience.
When was Huawei Mate XT released?
Although only available in China, the Huawei Mate XT was a huge tech announcement that left the whole world talking. It was the first tri-folding smartphone that was officially available to the public. It was revealed and then released to the public of China in September 2024 and came out of nowhere, no one was expecting this drop. It’s been rumoured that Samsung has been trying for a couple of years now to produce a triple-folding smartphone, and it appears they have been beaten to it.
When at regular size, the Huawei smartphone is still thinner than current Galaxy folding models, the phone material is leather and sports a stunning red and gold colour. As we mentioned, the phone isn’t available to the rest of the world yet, but there is hope we will see it in stores in 2025, it certainly has become the stepping stone for introducing tri-folding phones into the mobile industry.
What is the Galaxy Ring for?
Over the summer, Samsung held their iconic Galaxy Unpacked Event where they mentioned upcoming projects and products we will be seeing soon. They mentioned a new tech that we had heard rumouring for a while, the Galaxy Ring. Samsung's first smart ring is equipped with sleep tracking, energy scores, cardio tracking, fitness tracking and more. It has an impressive battery charge and looks stunning. As soon as it was released it was a huge success with fans, it was eventually released in July 2024 and was equally met with a positive reception. We hope to see Samsung adapt to this tech ring in the new year possibly with a second model, it would also be great to see competitors like Apple and Google work on rival smart rings to grow the wearable tech community.
What does Rabbit R1 actually do?
Our final top 2024 tech release was the Rabbit R1, an AI pin that was created to rival the smartphone, the most popular technology product to ever exist. The pin was released in April 2024, only a couple weeks after the disappointing drop of the Humane AI Pin, its idea is to replace the smartphone to stop users from relying on their screens as much.
It is currently available for $199 and compared to the Humane AI Pin, which was a whopping $700, we don’t think the $199 price tag is too bad. With AI growing so much and us becoming so dependent on it, it will be interesting where this tech could lead.
