2024 has been a great year regarding smartphone details and releases. And we can't wait for that success to continue into 2025. We already have some insights into the new smartphones released in the New Year. So let’s look at the three most popular smartphone giants, Apple, Samsung and Google, and see what smartphone updates they have for us ready for the new year. Remember, everything in this blog is currently based on opinions and theories, nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Will Apple release a phone in 2025?
Let’s start with the most iconic smartphone released each year, the Apple iPhone. In 2025, the iPhone 17 will be the next Apple device to hit stores. With the iPhone 16 released only a few months ago, there is already big talk about what we could see for the next model. Firstly, and possibly the most discussed, is the fact the iPhone 17 may have a slimmer version released called the iPhone 17 Air. We cannot wait to see how this tech could look, considering it will have an impact on the interior performance of the phone due to the reduction in size of the mobile.
We know we will most likely see this phone release in September, as do the usual Apple phones. We may see improvements to the regular iPhone 17 interior including performance, battery life and chipset updates. Could we change from the A18 to the A19?
And finally, the other major change we could see when it comes to the iPhone 17 is the device's camera design. There is lots of talk the phone's camera will move away from its iconic right corner location and be moved possibly to the top centre of the phone. If this happens, it will be a huge change for Apple smartphone technology, and we can’t wait to see if these changes go through.
What phone is Samsung releasing in 2025?
Out of the three major smartphone brands we are reviewing in this blog, the new Galaxy phone is the most talked about with the most leaked photos and videos available. This is most likely because it is scheduled to be revealed in January 2025, which is only 1 month away. So production and development of the Samsung Galaxy S25 is now finished. In the leaked imagery, we have seen flat sides of the phone, cornered edges and other ‘iPhone-inspired’ design changes.
Inside the phone, we should see increased storage space, improved screen displays and added SmartView features and device control options. We may also see the screen size of the S25 upgrade from 6.2” to 6.3”. In the leaked videos, we have seen a metallic, titanium-designed phone showcase in a stunning grey/silver colour, could this be a new Galaxy smartphone colour leaked? Or just a prototype?
What is Google doing in 2025?
And finally, the smartphone we know least about is the upcoming Google Pixel 10. We have little to no knowledge of this tech. After so many leaks and disruptions were caused with the Pixel 9, it is clear Google are keen on keeping this phone under-wrapped until its usual October release date. We know that a series of codenames have been released for the Google Pixel models, Frankel, Blazer, Mustang and Rango. The fact there are 4 codenames leads us to believe we’ll be seeing 4 new phones.
On top of this, we could see a possible Tensor G5 Processor and new AI features like Speak To Tweak and Sketch To Image. We hope further details are released on this possible model, but considering Google had to bring their Pixel release date forward due to leaks, this is very unlikely.
Other mobile updates:
- OnePlus has revealed their second folding smartphone will be released sometime in 2025; a possible March 2025 release date is in talks.
- The Nothing Phone 3 was rumoured to release in 2024, after we heard no news we assumed a 2025 date could be in sight.
- It has been revealed Huawei will release smartphones in 2025, with a new HarmonyOS Next chipset.
