How do I check my computer's performance?

To free up space and optimize your computer, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Control Panel and select "Programs and Features" or "Uninstall a program."
  2. Uninstall any unnecessary programs by selecting them and clicking the "Uninstall" button.
  3.  Delete temporary files by opening the temp folder using the Run dialogue box (Windows key + R) and deleting all the files. Repeat for "C:\Windows\Temp" and "C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Temp".
  4. Empty the recycle bin and clear browser history and cache.

Note: Be careful when deleting files, as some may be necessary for certain programs to function properly.

To speed up your computer's boot time and free up system resources, follow these steps to disable startup programs in the Task Manager:

  1. Press the Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys to open the Task Manager.
  2. Click on the Startup tab to view a list of all the programs that start when your computer boots up.
  3. Identify programs that you don't need to start automatically and right-click on them to select "Disable" or click the "Disable" button on the bottom right corner.
  4. Repeat the process for all unnecessary programs.
  5. Close the Task Manager.

Note: Be cautious when disabling programs, as some may be necessary for certain functions of your computer to work properly. Do research before disabling a program if you're unsure.

To improve the performance of your computer, follow these steps to run a disk cleanup and defragment your hard drive:

  1. Press the Windows key + X and select "Computer" or "This PC."
  2. Right-click on the hard drive you want to clean up and select "Properties."
  3. Click on the "Disk Cleanup" button to scan and calculate how much space can be freed up by deleting temporary files.
  4. Select the files you want to delete and follow the prompts to complete the process.
  5. To defragment your hard drive, click on the "Tools" tab and select "Optimize."
  6. Windows will analyze your hard drive and show the fragmentation level.
  7. Click on the "Optimize" button to defragment your hard drive.
